Anna Sabino used to work on Wall Street before she decided she wanted a more independent lifestyle. She became a creative entrepreneur, staring a jewelry brand in New York, which has been mentioned by editors at Vogue, Marie Claire, and People. Sabino went on to become a life and business growth co-active coach. In her first book, Your Creative Career: Turn Your Passion into a Fulfilling and Financially Rewarding Lifestyle, Sabino draws from her own experience as a successful jewelry artist, entrepreneur, and business coach to show other artists and creative people how to build a business based on there talents and callings.
“I can’t say that I’ve done it all, but as far as entrepreneurship and product business is concerned, I’ve done a lot and I’m eager to lay it all out for you so you can get inspired in your own creative creator,” Sabino writes in the introduction to Your Creative Career, adding: “I wrote this book hoping to save you time. There’s no reason why you should make the mistakes I made to succeed in your creative career.”
Sabino provides information on various proven systems and strategies to develop products priced to sell and keep selling. She helps guide readers through each step of the process, from inspiration for an idea on through to starting a business, including branding and distribution. In the process, she discusses the all important measures needed to go from being an artist working in relative solitude to collaborative entrepreneurship. In the process, she references other business writers and delves into the psychology of the artist and creative person. She addresses challenges of starting a business based on creative talents and discusses how to overcome these challenged in a modern business.
Sabino begins with the basics of designing a creative career and how to explore the individual creativity within each person. She details the transformation process from artist to artist-entrepreneur and then reveals the process of making a product. Sabino also explores the difference between making what people want and following a creative passion. Other areas discussed include pricing for a profit, spreading the word about a business, and developing a brand, including marketing and publicity. In discussing how to succeed as an entrepreneur, Sabino also examines the pressures faced in relation to growth. Chapters end with various suggestions on how to explore a topic in more depth. Noting the book’s “concise and cleanly written chapters,” a Kirkus Reviews contributor went on to write: “The manual is also notable for its applicability to a wide range of entrepreneurial styles and strategies.”

I started my path of creative entrepreneurship when I quit working on Wall Street over a decade ago and started a jewelry brand - Lucid New York. At first, Lucid was a collection of glass jewelry, made in my room on Ludlow street on the Lower East Side in New York City. To put my roommate at ease, I moved the propane tanks and my glass jewelry making operation to Urban Glass studio in Brooklyn. Shortly after I started working with metals, wire wrapping and crystals.
This is how Lucid New York brand started over twelve years ago. I now design the collections, get pieces made in New York, work with artisans from Thailand and import jewelry from Hong Kong. For years I used to exhibit the collections at trade shows in San Francisco, New York and Paris. Lucid has been coveted by editors of Vogue, Marie Claire, People StyleWatch. I got featured as a trade show expert in Entrepreneur magazine and other blogs and publications. Instead of focusing on growth in financial terms, I started prioritizing personal growth developing skills, which one day would make my plan of having a location independent lifestyle possible.
I became a life and business growth certified co-active coach. My first book- Your Creative Career will be published by Career Press in January 2018. I feel like I have a lot to share with my fellow entrepreneurs. I hope the business insights and secrets I write about will save creative entrepreneurs time. I hope you get inspired to start and run financially successful businesses on your own terms.

A seasoned entrepreneur shares techniques and strategies for turning creative pursuits into successful businesses.
In this debut book, Sabino draws on both her own experience as the founder of jewelry brand Lucid New York and the works of well-known, pop-business writers (Seth Godin, Chris Guillebeau, and Tim Ferriss are name-checked frequently) to provide readers with a framework for developing a venture based on creative activities. The volume explores the psychology of creating--and the challenges that innovators often face when combining their passions with the pursuit of profit--and the elements of a thriving 21st-century business. Concise and cleanly written chapters tackle the decision to launch a creative career, growth management, pricing strategies, and marketing and publicity techniques. Each chapter concludes with suggestions for journaling or otherwise examining the topic more deeply. Although Sabino acknowledges that potential creative entrepreneurs may face financial or personal limits on their abilities to forge new careers, the readers who will find this guide most useful are those who have plenty of time (Sabino describes holding a full-time job for a year in addition to starting her business) and money (working for free "is a simple and effective way to start almost any career you dream of"). Some of the counsel will be familiar to readers of business books--tips on managing time effectively; understanding the psychology of pricing--while in other cases, Sabino brings a unique perspective, as in her recommendation against focusing too much on developing new products: "If we move on from what we've completed way too soon, we deprive clients from knowing about it and owning it." The manual is also notable for its applicability to a wide range of entrepreneurial styles and strategies: Sabino addresses readers who are initiating lifestyle businesses as well as those chasing venture capital and IPOs, and both groups should find the book helpful. While readers will have to look elsewhere for advice on the more nitty-gritty details of running a business, they will find worthwhile information on a mindful approach to creative entrepreneurship here.
