A’zayler is the pseudonym of Patrice Watts, an urban romance writer and founder of the website A’zaylerINK. A native of Columbus, Georgia, A’zayler began to write when she was a sophomore in college. At the time, she was primarily writing for herself and not publication. However, she eventually wrote a novel that was published in 2014 and has since written more than thirty novels, many published as e-books. Her novels primarily focus on the lives of street characters.
Passion of the Streets
In her print romance novel Passion of the Streets, A’zayler tells the story of track star Gianna Ellis and Jamil “Milli” Rock. Milli has forged a life on the streets living in the world of violent drug dealing. Gianna, who lives in Hawaii, makes a trip to Georgia to visit family and meets Milli. The two have an immediate attraction but come from vastly different worlds. Gianna’s family is wealthy while Milli is looking to rise in a Miami cartel.
It quickly becomes apparent that their love has disrupted their carefully laid plans. As a result, they face many obstacles if they are to change and their love is to survive. “A’zayler creates a totally sizzling read with with her seductive novel about star-crossed lovers,” wrote RT Book Reviews website contributor Maria Ferrer. Kristina Giovanni, writing for Booklist, remarked: “A’zayler … weaves a web of dramatic secrets and surprise twists.”
No Loyalty
A’zayler is also an author, with De’nesha Diamond, of No Loyalty. The book features two stories, “Dangerous Liaisons” by Diamond and A’zayler’s “Tears of Blood,” which features identical twins Kayden and Aiden Lattimore. The brothers have a strong bond but are on very different life paths. Aiden appears to be well on his way to being elected mayor, while Kayden is feared on the streets. While Aiden appears to be the good brother, things take a drastic turn when Aiden commits a crime that will likely lead him to prison. It is Kayden, however, who seems to have the stronger bond and moral center when he decides that he will take the blame for his brother’s crime and serve time in prison. Meanwhile, Aiden decides that he also wants Kayden’s wife, leading Kayden to decide that his brother needs to learn a lesson about loyalty.
“A’zayler asks us to consider who is good and who is bad,” wrote Kristina Giovanni in Booklist. Noting that both stories in No Loyalty are “filled with secrets, drama and betrayal,” Teresa Beasley, writing for the Authors & Readers Book Corner website, remarked that the stories have “realistic storylines and shared behavior of characters that we see happening today.”

I'm Patrice Watts, and I happen to write under the name A’zayler. A native of Columbus Georgia, I've always been a fan of reading, but found my passion for writing during my sophomore year in college. Being that I used storytelling as an outlet, I spent a lot of time writing privately. That all changed with the release of my first novel. A'zayler creates a totally sizzling read with with her seductive novel about star-crossed lovers. Think Romeo and Juliet meets Jason’s Lyric. The novel is well written, fast paced and packed full of action. The author gives us two characters — who meet by chance and who shouldn’t be together — and convinces us completely that love overcomes all odds and opposition. Plus, having a killer on their tail certainly adds to the drama!
Jamil “Milli” Rock and Gia Ellis are as different as night and day. She comes from a privileged family and has Olympic aspirations, while he is a drug dealer from the hood with dreams of a high position in a Miami cartel. Gia is only in Georgia for the summer, but once she hooks up with Milli, their lives change dramatically. They must learn to accept each other’s differences and to stand firm against opposition from all sides. But their biggest challenge will be Milli’s past, which threatens the very future they hope to build. (DAFINA, May, 304 pp., $15.95)

Can family be your worst enemy? In No Loyalty by De’nesha Diamond and A’zayler this is definitely true. No loyalty had two short stories filled with secrets, drama and betrayal.
In the first story, Dangerous Liaisons, author De’nesha Diamond shares a suspenseful story about a damaged mother-daughter relationship. Klaudya Ramsey has moved on from past issues in her life and is married with two children. When her mother, Nichelle is dropped off at her house, Klaudya has a bad feeling. She soon realizes why it was a bad idea for her mother to be back in her life. When push comes to shove, Klaudya is a survivor and always has a plan B.
In the second story, Tears of Blood author A’zayler shares a story about two brothers whose loyalty and bond is so strong, until one brother takes a wrong turn. Kayden out of love for his brother, Aiden, decides to do his jail time. Aiden out of selfishness decides to award himself with his brother’s wife. The story takes and turn once Kayden decides his brother needs to learn a life lesson.
These stories showed different ways family can betray each other and be each other’s worse enemy. I enjoyed these well developed characters and strong plots. Both had realistic storylines and shared behavior of characters that we see happening today.
Having read several of De’nesha Diamond’s books, she didn’t disappoint with this short story. This was my first time reading A’zayler’s work and truly enjoyed her writing style. I recommend No Loyalty to those who like Urban Fiction.
