ADDRESS
CAREER
Criminal prosecutor; assistant district attorney and assistant attorney general in Boston, MA; Department of Justice in Washington, DC, trial attorney; legal consultant, writer, and producer for television shows.
WRITINGS
Worked as consultant, writer, and producer on television shows, including Doubt, Law and Order, Law and Order: Criminal Intent, Law and Order: Trial by Jury, Conviction, The Judge, Canterbury’s Law, and Bull.
SIDELIGHTS
Pamela Wechsler was a criminal prosecutor for fifteen years, working as an assistant district attorney and assistant attorney general in Boston, and as a trial attorney for the Department of Justice in Washington, D.C. After moving to Los Angeles, she became a legal consultant, writer, and producer for network television shows, including Law and Order, Conviction, and Bull. She has also written mystery novels in the “Abby Endicott” series.
Mission Hill
Wechsler’s first book, Mission Hill, introduces Boston chief of the District Attorney’s homicide unit, Abby Endicott. Having grown up in the elite Beacon Hill district, Abby attended the best schools such as Harvard Law School. Her wealthy family was dismayed when she decided to work as a public defender. Nevertheless, she loves her work prosecuting the city’s most dangerous killers. She is devastated when a call comes in to investigate a recent murder and the victim is her lover and fellow prosecutor, Tim Mooney, a married man. The suspect is a gang member who was implicated in the murder of Abby’s best friend in high school seventeen years ago.
Writing in Publishers Weekly, a contributor noted “the swiftly moving plot offers plenty of surprises” and enjoyed the “hard-charging Boston homicide prosecutor.” The story detailing the attorney’s determination is “a tribute to Abby’s toughness and tenacity, traits that will, no doubt, serve her well in future ventures,” according to Library Journal writer Nancy McNicol. Booklist reviewer Karen Keefe praised the book for being a “fast-paced legal thriller that will appeal to fans of Lisa Scottoline and Linda Fairstein.”
The Graves
The next book in the series is the 2017 The Graves. After Abby Endicott’s boss, Max Lombardo, decides to run for mayor, the job of District Attorney opens up, and Abby is in the running. In her personal life, her black musician boyfriend, Tyson Clarke, has moved in with her, to the disapproval of her wealthy family. Meanwhile, a serial killer is attacking college-age women. Abby teams with Detective Kevin Farnsworth and learns that the prime suspect is the son of a prominent U.S. Senator who hopes to sweep the issue under the rug.
Praising Wechsler’s ability to juggle all the events playing out in Abby’s life, a writer in Kirkus Reviews concluded that the book is “Catnip for readers attached to Boston, believably strong women, legal intrigue, or any combination of the above.” In another review of affinity, a Publishers Weekly contributor noted: “Wechsler expertly balances serious subject matter with Abby’s self-effacing, often funny first-person narration.”

Wechsler's snappy follow-up to 2016's Mission Hill finds Abby Endicott, homicide chief of the Boston District
Attorney's office, on the hunt for a killer who's targeting college girls working as escorts. When the clues lead Abby
and Det. Kevin Farnsworth to Tommy Greenough, the son of a prominent U.S. senator, Abby is forced to play politics.
Meanwhile, Abby's boss, Max Lombardo, decides to run for mayor, leaving his job open, and Abby's name is thrown
into the mix. Unfortunately, her wealthy Beacon Hill family doesn't approve of her career choice, and her boyfriend's
shady past might complicate things. The whipsmart Abby reads very much like Stephanie Plum with an edge, and her
idiosyncrasies, like her inability to balance her checkbook (after being cut off by her family) and her tendency to bail
once romantic relationships become serious, only make her more likable. Wechsler expertly balances serious subject
matter with Abby's self-effacing, often funny first-person narration. Readers will be eager for Abby's next case. Agent:

Wechsler, Pamela THE GRAVES Minotaur (Adult Fiction) $25.99 5, 2 ISBN: 978-1-250-07788-2
The sophomore case for Abigail Endicott, Boston's chief homicide prosecutor, looks like just one piece of bad news
after another.Abby's brief walk to the Liberty Hotel, where her boyfriend, black sax player Tyson Clarke, is part of the
entertainment for a posh reception, is interrupted when she's mugged by a drug dealer and sometime informant she
knows from court, where he's a witness in a murder trial. "You have to stop mugging people," she tells him kindly as
she picks herself up, "at least until our case has gone through the appeals process." She's pulled away from the
reception by Detective Kevin Farnsworth's news that Boston's finest have found a woman's corpse--stripped, raped, and
posed--that eerily recalls the murder a month earlier of Boston U. sophomore Rose Driscoll. Sidelined by the violence
that closed her first case (Mission Hill, 2016), Abby's so determined to get onto this one that she's willing to cross
swords repeatedly with her boss, politically ambitious district attorney Max Lombardo, who's spooked when the trail
promptly leads Abby straight to an influential senator's son. The discovery of a third victim confirms everyone's
suspicions that they're up against a serial killer. If that revelation isn't exactly a surprise, Wechsler has plenty of other
surprises up her sleeve concerning Abby's stuffy and disapproving family, an unexpected political opportunity offered
to her, the common denominator that links the victims, and the investigation and trial. And she juggles them all with an
assurance that makes her future look a lot more secure than her heroine's. Catnip for readers attached to Boston,
believably strong women, legal intrigue, or any combination of the above.

Mission Hill. By Pamela Wechsler. May 2016.304p. Minotaur, $24.99 (9781250075697).
Former-prosecutor-turned-television-writer Wechsler introduces Abby Endicott, chief of the homicide unit for the
Boston district attorney's office. Abby's gritty job remains a disappointment to her old-money Mission Hill family.
They demand she quit when a fellow prosecutor is murdered right before he takes a local gang member to trial. When
Abby takes the case, the stakes get personal. Not only was prosecutor Tim Mooney her lover, but she believes the man
on trial is also responsible for her best friend's death years ago. As the case heats up, Abby must decide if this is the
right time to lean on the musician boyfriend she's been keeping at a distance. The glimpses into Abby's well-mannered
personal life are a nice contrast to the high-stakes drama she encounters interviewing witnesses and facing off in court.
A fast-paced legal thriller that will appeal to fans of Lisa Scottoline and Linda Fairstein.--Karen Keefe

Wechsler steps into the legal thriller arena with 15 years' experience as a criminal prosecutor along with TV series
writing and consulting credentials. The author's first offering is billed as a series opener and introduces Abby Endicott,
the homicide unit chief for the Boston District Attorney's office and a native of the city's elite Mission Hill
neighborhood. The product of a privileged upbringing, private school education, and rigorous training at Harvard Law,
Abby on the surface seems poised for an effortless career ascent, but those expectations are shattered in the novel's
opening chapters when she is called to the scene of a murder. The victim is Tim Mooney, a former coworker and
clandestine lover. Probing the killing, Abby discovers Tim had been prosecuting a case against Orlando Jones who,
years earlier, killed her high school best friend and had gotten off lightly with time served in a juvenile detention center.
What follows is a tribute to Abby's toughness and tenacity, traits that will, no doubt, serve her well in future ventures.
VERDICT Fans of Alafair Burke's "Samantha Kincaid" series and other legal thriller authors will be well advised to
get in on the ground floor of what promises to be an intriguing new series.--Nancy McNicol, Hamden P.L., CT

The worst of times seem to bring out the best in hard-charging Boston homicide prosecutor Abby Endicott, as shown in
Wechsler's muscular debut, the first in a series. Fellow prosecutor Tim Mooney, to whom Abby is close, has just been
murdered in Jamaica Plain execution-style, on the eve of delivering his opening statement at the trial of gangbanger
Orlando Jones, whom Abby blames for the death of her childhood best friend 17 years earlier. Abby being Abby--keen
not to let anyone think that her pampered Beacon Hill upbringing and designer duds signify softness--there's no way
that she's not going to commandeer the case, even if her involvement could jeopardize the prosecution, not to mention
her life. Though the swiftly moving plot offers plenty of surprises, it's the realism with which the author, a seasoned
Boston criminal prosecutor who's now a legal consultant for TV shows, depicts varied worlds from Brahmin glitzy to
Roxbury gritty that will make readers eager for Abby's next adventure. Agent: Victoria Skurnick, Levine Greenberg
