WRITINGS
SIDELIGHTS
Katee Robert is the author of over two dozen romance and romantic suspense novels. She discovered romance novels at the age of twelve and determined to be a writer. Then came some years of travel and living in Germany, marriage and children. In 2012, she published her first novel, and has proceeded at break-neck speed since then, turning out three to four novels a years, both stand-alones and the popular series. “O’Malleys.” In an online Night Owl Romance interview, Robert commented on the planning it takes to keep up this writing pace: “I confess to being a total planner nerd and spending way too much time obsessing over colored pens, washi tape, and stickers. As a mom of three kids and writing for three different publishers, there’s no way I could keep track of all the family stuff plus all the work deadlines without my planners. So I figure why not make sure they’re cute.”
The Marriage Contract and The Wedding Pact
Robert’s popular “O’Malleys” series was launched with The Marriage Contract, which introduces readers to the powerful, wealthy, and dangerous O’Malley family. Teague O’Malley has a tough-edged reputation, but he dislikes his family and all that it stands for. His father commands him to marry Callista Sheridan in order to consolidate a “business” empire of rival Boston gangs–an order which does not sit well with the son. Teague is ready to give up his inheritance and head out on his own when he meets Callista, who had bruises on her neck and an unbroken spirit. Suddenly he feels protective, knowing that he must save this woman. For her part, Callie is attracted to Teague’s dark power, but she has a secret that could put him in danger. Writing in the online RT Book Reviews, Tasha Harrison termed this a “yummy read and an excellent start to a new series.”
The series continues with The Wedding Pact, a Juliet and Romeo tale of love between members of warring gangs. Carrigan O’Malley takes center stage here, and–as the oldest daughter of this crime family–she has long known that her marriage will be an arranged one that benefits the family’s interests. But after one night with James Halloran of a rival gang, she is smitten and doubts that she can ever accept another as her husband. James, too, cannot get Carrigan out of his mind. He knows he should be making wedding plans with a woman who could further the interest of his family’s empire, but all he can think about is going to bed with Carrigan again. Writing in RT Book Reviews Website, Harrison found the chemistry between Carrigan and James “undeniable,” further noting that the “added tension of their relationship threatening the tentative peace between the O’Malleys and the Hallorans will keep you turning pages.”
An Indecent Proposal and Forbidden Promises
The third installment in the “O’Malleys” series, An Indecent Proposal, focuses on Cillian O’Malley who is torn by guilt over the death of his younger brother. Working now as a bookkeeper in the family business, he is coasting in life, spending his nights in a bar where he and his brothers once met. There he meets a beautiful new bartender, Olivia, who at first tries to ignore Cillian. She has her own dark secrets, the illegitimate daughter of a Russian mobster whose half-brother is now trying to drag her back into a life of crime. A single mother, Olivia wants nothing more to do with that life, but can Cillian be the man to help her avoid that? Writing in Booklist, John Charles felt that “readers who love tortured heroes with a violent past but a heart of gold will snap up the latest in her brilliantly imaginative and blisteringly hot “O’Malleys” series.” Similarly, Harrison dubbed this a “good read,” in the online RT Book Reviews.
The fourth series addition, Forbidden Promises, features Sloan O’Malley, who has broken from her family, leaving her money and name behind to forge a new life free of fear and crime. She flees to the small beach town of Callaway Rock on the West Coast, and there rents a house from Sorcha O’Connor. This new life is complicated, however, by the presence of her sexy and mysterious next-door-neighbor, Jude MacNamara, who is actually an assassin on the trail of Sorcha. But meeting Sloan, Jude quickly falls in love and has little taste left for a life of crime. Then the crime families come into play and this newly formed couple is caught in between. “A tension-filled plot full of deceit, betrayal, and sizzling love scenes will make it impossible for readers to set the book down,” commented a Publishers Weekly reviewer.
The Devil's Daughter
Robert turns her hand to stand-alone suspenseful romance in the 2017 novel, The Devil’s Daughter. Eden Collins is a high-powered FBI agent with an interesting past. A decade before, she left her hometown of Clear Springs, Montana, intending never to return. She was the daughter of a cult leader and wanted no more of the cult or its leader, her mother, Martha Collins. Now, however, bodies of murdered young women are turning up bearing tattoos that are generally worn by the members of her mother’s cult. Eden now must return to the cult in order to find the killer. The local sheriff, Zach Owens, was not expecting to be so attracted to this FBI agent, nor does he want to see Eden put herself in harm’s way. But she knows it is the only way to get to the secret of these deaths.
In a Fresh Fiction Website interview, Robert commented on the inspiration for this novel. Reading Mind Hunter, by FBI Agent John Douglas, she was intrigued by the interview included in the book with convicted cult leader and killer, Charles Manson. In the book, Douglas wondered how much Manson even knew about initial murders committed by his cult members prior to the highly publicized Sharon Tate murders. Robert commented: “I started thinking about the relationship between cult leaders and their followers, specifically the ones who don’t believe what they’re teaching. It’s a question of whether a surfer is riding a wave, totally in control, or just along for the ride and hanging on for dear life.”
A Kirkus Reviews critic had praise for The Devil’s Daughter, noting that it “successfully integrates so many … elements of the mystery, thriller, and romance genres.” Similarly, a Publishers Weekly reviewer commented: “Readers will be caught off guard by the sudden development of Zach and Eden’s relationship, but thriller fans will enjoy the action and suspense.” Writing in RT Book Reviews Website, Bridget Keown also had praise, noting: “With plenty of twists and betrayals, this is a book that is sure to earn Robert a wealth of new fans.”

HEA welcomes Katee Robert, whose romantic suspense The Devil’s Daughter (Hidden Sins book one) is new today,
the devil’s daughter katee robertKatee: Suspense is everywhere you look these days. Truth be told, it never went anywhere — but with the success of Gone Girl, Girl on the Train and The Woman in Cabin 10, to name a few, the popularity of thrillers and mysteries are now trending in the romantic community as well.
As far as trends within romance go, it’s the natural evolution. We had our heyday with billionaires in all their varied forms, from kinky to vanilla. When the pendulum swung the other way, we fell in love with our military heroes, cops and firemen. The next natural step from those truly heroic heroes was the antihero. We saw motorcycle clubs and mob families and characters that hopscotched over the line of the law as they saw fit.
Now readers are craving something darker still.
Romantic suspense falls into two categories — romantic mysteries and romantic thrillers. Romantic mysteries follow the same general rules as mysteries, in that the majority of the plot line revolves around the procedure involving in solving a crime, usually a murder. At least one of the main leads will be involved in either private investigating or some branch of the law. In the process of solving this crime — or multiple crimes — they pit themselves against the villain, and fall for each other in the process.
absolute-trust-by-piper-drake
On the other side of the line, romantic thrillers are more about the chase. The plot is usually less about the procedural solving of a crime and more about attempting to outmaneuver the villain while their lives are on the line. In romantic thrillers, we find everything from hackers to spies to mercenaries. The scopes of the plots tend to be larger as well — the main characters know something and are on a compressed timeline to use that information to bring the villain down. Oftentimes, one main character is protecting another during this process as well.
No matter the flavor you prefer, romantic suspense takes you right over the edge into the dark side. The stakes have never been higher — if our leads don’t succeed in outmaneuvering a killer or bringing down an evil corporation, they may very well die as a result. This tension and risk are packaged alongside the romantic character arcs that romance readers know and crave — including the happily-ever-after or happily-for-now.
midnight-obsession-melinda-leigh
This year is jam-packed full of titles that will quench the craving for danger and romance in one satisfying story — and nearly every single one of them is by an author with an extensive backlist for maximum bingeing potential.
If your tastes run more toward the romantic mysteries, you will most definitely want to check out Melinda Leigh’s Midnight Series. Each book centers around small-town murders and the two main leads — a different couple in each book — who attempt to evade danger while solving the mystery of the killer’s identity. The most recent release, Midnight Obsession, released earlier this month.
two-can-play-kate-kessler
You’ll also want to look into Kate Kessler’s Audrey Harte novels. The series follows criminal psychologist Audrey Harte as she works to solve a crime, while dealing with her growing relationship with her best friend from childhood. These books are personal favorites of mine, because the characterization is excellent and matched only by the sheer tension in the story. They are the full package. The third novel in the series, Three Strikes, releases July 11. (Book two, Two Can Play, came out in November.)
I have a novel releasing today called The Devil’s Daughter. In this story, the daughter of a cult leader in Montana is drawn home against her better judgment. She’s now an FBI agent and she’s got to juggle her complicated relationship with her mother in the midst of a murder investigation and her growing attraction to the local sheriff.
broken-honor-tonya-burrows
If you’re craving something more along the lines of romantic thrillers, you’re going to want to start with Tonya Burrows. Her Hornet series is complex and suspenseful and incredibly sexy. The Hornet team is made up of former military folk who contract out on missions. The fourth book in the series, Code of Honor, will be out later this year. (Book three, Broken Honor, is out now.)
Piper Drake has two romantic suspense series that I highly recommend — both involving dogs working in official capacity. The canine characters are as charming as the diverse heroes and heroines, and the danger is all too real. Her most recent release, Absolute Trust, is the best yet!
deadly-silence-rebecca-zanetti
Last, but certainly not least, is Rebecca Zanetti. Her Blood Brothers series centers around an investigative agency and the thrilling danger involved in their cases. The first book, Deadly Silence, was impossible to put down, and the sequel, Lethal Lies, will be available April 4.
If you’re craving a little more suspense with your happily-ever-after, I highly recommend giving either a romantic thriller or a romantic mystery a shot—or both!
About The Devil’s Daughter:
Growing up in a small town isn’t easy, especially when you’re the daughter of a local cult leader. Ten years ago, Eden Collins left Clear Springs, Montana, and never once looked back. But when the bodies of murdered young women surface, their corpses violated and marked with tattoos worn by her mother’s followers, Eden, now an FBI agent, can’t turn a blind eye. To catch the killer, she’s going to have to return to the fold.
Sheriff Zach Owens isn’t comfortable putting Eden in danger, even if she is an elite agent. And he certainly wasn’t expecting to be so attracted to her. As calm and cool as she appears, he knows this can’t be a happy homecoming. Zach wants to protect her—from her mother, the cult, and the evil that lurks behind its locked gates. But Eden is his only key to the tight-lipped group, and she may just be closer to the killer than either one of them suspects…

Katee Robert
Katee Robert
Joyce: Welcome back to HEA, Katee! Please tell us a bit about your new release, The Wedding Pact.
Katee: The Wedding Pact is a continuation of the O’Malley series that began with The Marriage Contract. It’s the story exploring the fallout from the events of the first book, and how two people from opposing families fall in love. James and Carrigan are dynamite!
Joyce: What distracts you the most when you’re trying to write?
Katee: My own personal Tiny Dictator. He’s about 9 months old now, so aware enough to know Mommy is at the computer and he’s not a fan. He’s actually growling at me right now! It’s been challenging to balance a new baby and writing all the books, but I have a great support system (which reminds me — I owe my mother-in-law chocolate).
Joyce: Is there another romance author whom you admire so much that you could easily become a stalker?
The Wedding Pact by Katee Robert
Katee: HA! Do you want a list? But seriously, I fangirl so hard when I love books that sometimes I worry I come across as a little over-the-top. A few off the top of my head are Tessa Bailey, Kresley Cole and Sarah MacLean.
Joyce: Do you listen to music while you write? What are some tunes on your playlist?
Katee: Almost always (though there was one book I wrote solely with horror movies in the background)! I usually either throw together a playlist or pick a Pandora station to get me started. For The Wedding Pact, my top three listened-to songs were This Is Gonna Hurt by Sixx:A.M., Hell on an Angel by Brantley Gilbert and Bossy (feat Too $hort) by Kelis.
Joyce: What are three romance novels on your to-be-read list?
Katee: These days, I have an entire bookshelf for my TBR list, but my next three romance reads are: Jackie Ashenden’s Kidnapped by the Billionaire, Shelly Laurenston’s The Undoing and Tessa Dare’s Lord Dashwood Missed Out.
Katee Robert goes blond.
Katee Robert goes blond.
Joyce: I don’t suppose you’d want to share a picture of you with your ’80s or ’90s hair or perhaps a prom picture?
Katee: Heck yeah! I cut my hair wicked short and dyed it bleach blond. It seemed like a good idea at the time!
Joyce: LOL. Thanks for sharing!
What’s coming next?
Katee: Whew! So much! This year brings the third book in the O’Malley series, as well as a new Brazen series about dirty-talking cowboys. And in January I have my very first foray into romantic suspense — The Devil’s Daughter.
Joyce: Thanks, Katee!
Katee: Thank you for having me!
About The Wedding Pact:
Carrigan O’Malley has always known her arranged marriage would be more about power and prestige than passion. But after one taste of the hard-bodied, whiskey-voiced James Halloran, she’s ruined for anyone else. Too bad James and his family are enemy number one.
Hallorans vs. O’Malleys-that’s how it’s always been. James should be thinking more about how to expand his family’s empire instead of how silky Carrigan’s skin is against his and how he can next get her into his bed. Those are dangerous thoughts. But not nearly as dangerous as he’ll be if he can’t get what he wants: Carrigan by his side for the rest of their lives.

Katee Robert | Inspiration for THE DEVIL'S DAUGHTER
January 23, 2017
InstagramtwitterYouTubefacebookwebsite
THE DEVIL'S DAUGHTER is follows the story of Eden Collins, an FBI agent who grew up as the daughter of a cult leader. She escaped her mother’s control and made a life for herself, bringing down human monsters. When someone emails her a picture of a dead girl with tattoos that mark her as a member of Eden’s mother’s cult, she goes home—despite her misgivings—to help with the investigation.
I can trace the origin of this story to one specific moment. That ah ha moment where everything clicks into place. I was reading FBI Agent John Douglas’s book, MIND HUNTER. Douglas was one of the founding members of the FBI’s serial crime unit and he did a ton of research in regards to serial murder, including many interviews with incarcerated serial killers. It’s very interesting reading, and I highly recommend it if you’re intrigued by that sort of thing.
The part that triggered the concept of this book was Douglas’s interview with Charles Manson. He has some fascinating views of Manson, one of which was his opinion regarding the murders perpetuated by Manson’s cult. Douglas questioned whether Manson even knew about the initial murders—or intended them (no question that he fully participated in the later ones).
I started thinking about the relationship between cult leaders and their followers, specifically the ones who don’t believe what they’re teaching. It’s a question of whether a surfer is riding a wave, totally in control, or just along for the ride and hanging on for dear life.
I specifically chose a woman, Martha, as the leader of the fictional cult in THE DEVIL'S DAUGHTER for multiple reasons. I think there are significantly different tones than cults lead by men, and as a result, it was really compelling to be able to play with those differences in new and unexpected ways.
There is the added dimension of a mother-daughter relationship that is twisted and tangled and toxic. The heroine, Eden, had the strength to flee her mother’s influence, so putting her back into Martha’s realm created incredible tension. It’s hard to shuck off eighteen years of influence, even when the rational part of her mind knows that she’s being manipulated.
The cult itself is called Elysia, making the cultists Elysians. It’s centered around the Demeter and Persephone myth, which is mirrored in many ways in Martha and Eden’s relationship. It’s simply twisted and looked at in a different light. What if Persephone was grateful for Hades’s intervention? What kind of monster must Demeter have been to make the entire world pay for her grief?
And, as Eden often has to remind herself, it’s far too easy to forget that Persephone wasn’t only a victim to her mother and husband.
She became Queen of the Underworld, and no one can take that from her.

Interview
Hi Katee. It's awesome to have you here. First off, what's you latest book!
The Wedding Pact
Essentially it’s “The Godfather” meets “Romeo and Juliet.” The O’Malleys are one of three seriously powerful Boston crime families. As the eldest daughter, Carrigan knows her duty is to marry to secure an alliance to help build the empire. Her dad has given her a list of eligible, acceptable men. But after one night (actually, not even a night—more like a quickie in a nightclub closet), she’s ruined for anyone but that hard-bodied, whiskey-voiced stranger. A man she soon finds out is James Halloran, the head of her family’s biggest rival.
What should readers expect from your titles?
Lots of action and lots of heat!
What is your favorite or most fun place to shop online?
Well, Etsy is certainly a rabbit hole I can easily get lost in. But I also adore Fluevogs shoes (https://www.fluevog.com). They’re funky, whimsical, and—most important--insanely comfortable.
What is your favorite way to procrastinate?
It’s not procrastinating if it actually helps get your job done, right? I confess to being a total planner nerd and spending way too much time obsessing over colored pens, washi tape, and stickers. As a mom of three kids and writing for three different publishers, there’s no way I could keep track of all the family stuff plus all the work deadlines without my planners. So I figure why not make sure they’re cute. Hence the Etsy addiction noted above.
Do you feel music has inspired your writing?
Most definitely. Each book has either a playlist or a Pandora station. Flogging Molly and Tove Lo and Ed Sheeran are the main three on THE WEDDING PACT.
Which authors do you follow religiously?
Anne Bishop’s Black Jewels trilogy is one of my favorite series of all time. I try to re-read it at least once a year. So freaking good! I also love Jacqueline Carey, Kresley Cole, Tiffany Reisz, Ilona Andrews, Ann Aguirre, and Rin Chupeco’s YA.
What's next for you as an author?
The first book in the Foolproof Love series will be out in June, and then the next of the O’Malleys series, AN INDECENT PROPOSAL, features Cillian and will be out at the end of August. On the writing side, I’m working on a suspense series and then spinning around some ideas for a new series to follow the O’Malleys.
Thanks for coming Katee. It's always a pleasure to meet up with you.
A huge thanks to everyone who’s read and helped spread the love for the O’Malleys series. If you’re a fan and want even more prizes and exclusive content, consider joining The Rabble on my Facebook page. We have a ridiculous amount of fun.

Katee Robert. Forever, $7.99 mass market
(384p) ISBN 978-1-4555-9703-1
The fourth in Robert's O'Malleys contemporary series (after An Indecent Proposal) takes readers on a sexy, suspenseful
ride with a satisfying payoff. Sloan O'Malley leaves her Boston crime family behind and heads for the West Coast,
hoping to build a "normal" life for herself in the small beach town of Callaway Rock, where she rents a house from
Sorcha O'Connor. Jude Mac Namara is an assassin on Sorcha's trail, and he's been casing the residence for months,
posing as an ordinary next-door neighbor. When Sloan appears on the scene, Jude falls head over heels for her, but the
crime families begin to circle, putting them both in danger. It can be hard to make a ruthless assassin into a sympathetic
character, but Robert handles the task with ease. She also deftly shows Sloan's transformation from a pampered and
protected naif to a strong woman with a backbone of pure steel. A tension-filled plot full of deceit, betrayal, and
sizzling love scenes will make it impossible for readers to set the book down. This installment stands alone, but new
readers will certainly want to look up the earlier books. Agent: Laura Bradford, Bradford Literary. (May)

Robert, Katee THE DEVIL'S DAUGHTER Montlake Romance (Adult Fiction) $12.95 1, 24 ISBN: 978-1-5039-4091-8
Sexy sheriff Zach Owens needs help penetrating a mysterious cult in his Rocky Mountain town of Clear Springs,
Montana. When one teenage girl turns up dead and another is reported missing, Zach can't ignore the signs that there
might be a serial killer on the loose. Both girls came into contact with Martha Collins, the charismatic leader of a
cultlike commune called Elysia. On the surface, the commune seems like a harmless place concerned with meditation,
rebirth, and alpaca farming. While Zach doesn't like their emphasis on blind obedience, he's never had reason to suspect
criminal activity, except for the fact that Martha's loyal guards won't let Zach past the gates in order to investigate.
Suddenly Martha's estranged daughter, Eden, now an FBI agent, shows up to offer her help. She's the only one who can
get into Elysia and investigate its connection to the two girls. Eden isn't thrilled about going back into Elysia, a place
she survived and escaped, but she wants answers and she wants to help Zach. Though Zach and Eden don't know if they
can trust each other, they do know they share a powerful attraction. As Eden gets closer to the truth, and real danger,
Zach finds himself in a race against time to catch the killer and save the woman he loves. This cross-genre
mystery/romance is fast-paced and suspenseful, with zesty dialogue and likable characters. The darkness of the crime
provides heft to the story, raising the stakes while giving the main characters plenty of reason to discuss the case in
private as they try, and fail, to resist each other. Sometimes the sex scenes feel too sudden and awkwardly inserted into
the narrative, but it's a forgivable flaw in a novel that successfully integrates so many other elements of the mystery,
thriller, and romance genres. From veteran romance writer Robert (An Indecent Proposal, 2016, etc.), this is a great
addition to Montlake Romance's innovative mixed-genre repertoire.

The Devil's Daughter
Katee Robert. Montlake Romance, $12.95 trade paper (336p) ISBN 978-1-5039-4091-8
In this unorthodox romantic thriller, Robert (the O'Malley series) brushes a gloss of romance over the intense tale of
warfare between a cult and small-town cops. Former Marine Zach Owens, now sheriff in Clear Springs, Mont., is
determined to stop whoever is kidnapping and killing the teenage girls in his town. Since they all had been known to
visit the Elysian cult compound, he knows the cult is somehow involved, but proving it is going to take more than his
small police force. When FBI agent Eden Collins receives a picture of a dead teenager whose body is marked with the
tattoos of the cult--which is run by Eden's mother--she unofficially joins the investigation. Zach doesn't trust Eden for
obvious reasons, but he needs some intel, and she's the only one who can get through the well-guarded gates. The
lovers are both complex characters with extreme trust issues, but they manage to set aside their differences to focus on
their jobs of saving lives. Readers will be caught off guard by the sudden development of Zach and Eden's relationship,
but thriller fans will enjoy the action and suspense. (Jan.)

The minute Cillian O'Malley walked into the bar, Olivia Rashidi knew he was nothing but trouble wrapped up in an
irresistibly sexy package. But her plan to ignore the Irish mob boss' son went right out the window the moment Cillian
ordered a glass of apple juice. Before the night is over, Olivia finds herself engaging in a no-holds-barred, no-stringsattached
sexual encounter with Cillian that leaves them both shaken and more than a little bit stirred. She tells herself
this is it, because the last thing she needs is to become involved with someone her Russian-mob "family" considers to
be a serious business rival. Of course, giving Cillian the romantic brush-off isn't what Olivia wants to do the next time
she bumps into him. Nominated for a RITA this year, Robert (The Wedding Pact, 2016) proves she is one of the bright
new stars of romance, and readers who love tortured heroes with a violent past but a heart of gold will snap up the latest

The title of Robert's first installment of the "Come Undone" series almost gives away the entire plot but not quite. In
this light, sexy story about a botched seduction, Elle Walser, a sweetly naive museum curator, plans to seduce her boss
but ends up nearly sleeping with his older brother, who happens to be in the wrong bed at the right time. Gabe Schultz
is visiting his brother, Nathan, when Elle slips into his bed. Theirs won't be an easy match--Gabe is a nightclub owner
who's into body art, while Elle is the quintessential "girl next door," hoping to find a good, clean-living guy to whom
she can entrust her heart. This is a solid romance with its requisite happily ever after. R6bert's title is a welcome
addition to the category romance genre. Narrator Kasha Kensington reads this story with enthusiasm and energy. She
makes no over-the-top attempt at shifting her voice from feminine to masculine, creating a reading that is more fluid
and believable. VERDICT Recommended for all fans of happy endings.--Laura Brosie, Abilene, TX

Frantic feuding, fussing, and fighting dominate the second Sanctify sci-fi romance (after The High Priestess). Diviner
Ophelia Leoni has an under-the-influence one-night stand with delicious smuggler Boone O'Keirna. Already hurting
from losing her spacecraft and crew to the evil planet-gobbling fundamentalistic Sanctifiers, who are bent on wiping
out all her prophetic kind, Ophelia now has to contend with pregnancy as well as Boone's plans to use her as a pawn in
his struggle against his wicked half-brother, Kristian. Ophelia battles conniving alien traitors and Sanctify torturers to
save Boone between minutely described bouts of morning sickness and queasily interrupted passionate interludes.
Despite some unusual role reversals, Robert's repetitive high schoolish lingo, flat characters and settings, and a stale,
pedestrian plot will attract neither romance readers nor science fiction fans. (Mar.)

THE DEVIL’S DAUGHTER
Author(s): Katee Robert
Roberts shows off her impressive versatility in this fast-paced and inventive new Hidden Sins series. The small-town setting is a masterful blend of quaint and oppressive, which ratchets the menace and thrill factor. The protagonists carry the full weight of their pasts with them, making their growing relationship as compelling as the mystery element in The Devil’s Daughter. With plenty of twists and betrayals, this is a book that is sure to earn Robert a wealth of new fans.
Ten years ago, Eden Collins escaped from Clear Springs, Mont., and from the cult that her mother had founded there. Now an FBI agent, Eden has vowed never to return to her old life. But when she hears that several young women in Clear Springs have been found murdered, mutilated and marked with tattoos from her mother’s cult, she knows she cannot rest until she uncovers the truth. Sheriff Zach Owens can’t deny a growing attraction to Eden, but he knows that she alone holds the key to solving this case — in fact, she may be much closer to the killer than either suspects. AN INDECENT PROPOSAL
Author(s): Katee Robert
In this third installment of the O’Malley Series, tattooed brute in a suit, Cillian O’Malley is still mourning the death of his baby brother at Jameson’s, the neighborhood bar. This is where he meets the rude Olivia Rashidi. She has nothing but venom for him, which of course makes her dance near irresistible. And as much as she tries to keep her distance, Olivia finds herself hopelessly drawn to Cillian. This is a good read, but of the three O'Malley books, this one has the weakest conclusion. It just wraps up too neatly, though hopefully this won’t be the last that we see of the Romanov’s.
Olivia Rashidi left her Russian mob family, the Romanovs, behind to protect her daughter. When she meets Cillian O’Malley, she recognizes the red flag of his family name … yet she still can’t stop herself from seeing the smoldering, tortured man. Plagued by his brother’s death, Cillian is more vulnerable than anyone realizes. Anyone except Olivia, whose beauty, compassion and pride have him at “hello.” While his no-strings proposal seems simple, what he feels for her isn’t — especially after he learns that she belongs to a rival crime family. THE WEDDING PACT
Author(s): Katee Robert
Dirty-talker. That’s really all that needs to be said about James Halloran. We are introduced to him in book one of this series, and his scenes with Carrigan burn up the pages. These two can’t keep their hands off of each other, even though their families are sworn enemies. Their chemistry is undeniable, and the added tension of their relationship threatening the tentative peace between the O’Malleys and the Hallorans will keep you turning pages.
Carrigan O’Malley knew that she was destined for an arranged marriage. She was just a tool for her father to use to gain more power and prestige. But one taste of James has ruined her for any other man. But as her family’s sworn enemy, he didn’t make her father’s list of eligible bachelors. James Halloran has just assumed his now-incarcerated father’s seat of power and he should be more focused on expanding his family’s empire than the way Carrigan O’Malley whimpered his name. Entertaining the idea of her by his side as he rules his empire is dangerous and ridiculous. But he can’t seem to stop thinking about it. (FOREVER, May, 352 pp., $5.99)

THE MARRIAGE CONTRACT
Author(s): Katee Robert
Roberts easily pulls off the modern marriage-of-convenience trope. Instead of neighboring kingdoms that would benefit from the joining of the two families, make it turf controlled by rival gangs in Boston. This is a compulsively readable book! It’s more than just the sexy times, too, though they are plentiful and hot! It’s also the gangster politics, familial responsibility and just the right amount of suspense and tension that make this a yummy read and an excellent start to a new series.
Teague O’Malley hates everything associated with his family name and dreams about getting away from his father’s influence. Those dreams disintegrate when his father orders him to marry Callista Sheridan. He is all set to tell his father no until he meets his bride-to-be and falls for her instantly. Callista is the heir to the Sheridan family, but doesn’t feel like she has control of her life. Still, she vows to do what she can for her family, even if it means marrying an O’Malley. But she isn’t prepared for Teague, or the feelings she develops for him, especially since she is harboring a secret that could ruin everything this marriage is supposed to fix. LOVERS UNMASKED
Author(s): Katee Robert
Four gifted authors have joined forces to entertain readers. Their stories revolve around the scary good times of Halloween, and the burning desire portrayed in each novella will last the whole year through. Each tale contains sizzling hot passion, intrigue and characters who will linger long after the witches brew is gone. They can be read one at a time, but it's highly recommended to gobble them up all at once. A fantastic foursome who have the ability to provoke naughty thoughts, ideas and dreams long after it's all over. Trick or treat, you decide.
Robert fans will squee with delight over her story of a woman who plans on luring her crush into living out her deepest desires in "Seducing Mr. Right." In "Tempted by His Best Friend" by Quinn, readers will discover that kindergarten teachers know how to let their hair down when the temperature rises as Steph schools Landon, teaching him that friends can be lovers, too. Beck's novella, "Wicked Games," has Stacy bumping into her former beau Ian at a bash. Who will be the first to give in to the passion they've always shared? And, let's not forget Bailey's "Protecting What's Theirs," where Derek gets to flex his muscles for the woman he loves. Will Ginger give into temptation and admit they were meant for each other? QUEEN OF SWORDS
Author(s): Katee Robert
Book one in Robert’s Sanctify series kicks off in high gear. Humorous elements lighten the story’s overall space-opera mood, but there are many dark moments exploring genocide and tyranny. The characters and space setting are well developed and readers will root for the alpha hero, whose determination is easily matched by spunky, gritty Ophelia.
Ophelia Leoni is a Diviner, one of a handful of mystics who follow an outlawed religious practice. After a drunken one-night stand Ophelia learns she is destined to marry the prince of Hansard. When the prince’s brother shows up to escort her off-world she discovers he’s the stranger she just snuck out on. To complicate matters further, Boone O’Keirna wasn’t sent for his future sister-in-law; he’s there to kidnap her. Ophelia reluctantly cooperates with Boone and his sister, who are doing their best to thwart their brother and put an end to his violence and bullying. As the romance between Ophelia and Boone develops, they discover there is more at stake than when their journey began. (ENTANGLED, Mar., 246 pp. $15.99)
