Jamison Stone was born in Massachusetts. He is the founder and head writer at Apotheosis Studios, a small, creative studio which offers consulting, writing, and editorial work for nonprofits and businesses. Stone is a trustee, committee chair, and grant writer for the W. Clement & Jessie V. Stone Foundation. Stone attended Naropa University, where he received a B.A. in contemplative psychology. He also studied eastern and western philosophy at Saint Michael’s College in Tokyo, Japan. Jamison lives with his wife and dog.
Stone’s first book, Rune of the Apprentice, is a fantasy science fiction story. The protagonist is a young man with hidden talents who must flee his home. He is pursued by an evil leader who wants to encourage the young man to give into his internal anger. Noting these elements, a contributor at Publisher’s Weekly described Rune of the Apprentice as having “derivative plot elements and clunky prose.”
Stone’s protagonist, Aleksi, is a young man living in a Terra, a fantasy world that has a blend of magic and technology. Aleksi was born with a magical Rune embedded in his hand, something that has not happened in Terra in many years. As Aleksi enters his teenage years, the Rune begins to come alive, extending its tendrils into his nervous system. Aleksi is an apprentice at the Masters’ Academy, where he studies under his mentor, Rudra. Rudra explains to Aleksi that the future of Terra will be determined by Aleksi and his Rune. However, just as the Rune begins to awaken, Rudra goes missing. Without a master to guide him, Aleksi will be unable to harness the power of the Rune. Aleksi embarks on a quest to find his master, though he is pursued by both the leaders of the Masters’ Academy as well as dark assassins, who seek to either steal Aleksi’s Rune or prevent him from saving Terra.
The story becomes a quest when Aleksi joins a band of pirates on a ship, and the audience is introduced to new, magical characters. As the story unfolds, Aleksi fights to keep his temper down, as when he gets angry the tendrils of the Rune reach farther into his nervous system and up into his brain. As he attempts to maintain calmness, his pursuers get closer and take steps to encourage Aleksi to give into his anger. A contributor to the Nerdy Girl Express website noted “intense action, magical components and natural forces that add texture to the plot.”

SPAZKEY LLC is a Maryland based tech startup which provides innovative solutions in the realms of Encryption, Calibration, & Augmented Intelligence through creativity, collaboration, and compassion. SPAZKEY LLC has pioneered a patent pending encryption technology called IVE (Inference Visual Encryption), a calibration tool called IC (Inference Calibration), and will be releasing a new technology called the Glyph Algorithm in early 2016.
• IVE (Inference Visual Encryption) thwarts media piracy by preventing unauthorized duplication by modifying visual data so that it is no longer representative of the original data unless viewed by the human eye. Adopting this technology will enable visual media owners to capture significant revenue that is currently being lost through piracy and other forms of unauthorized use.
• The Glyph Algorithm is a solution to a case of the Boolean Satisfiability problem (k-SAT) and is therefore capable of determining satisfiable interpretations to any given Boolean expression in conjunctive normal form. Unlike tactics utilized by what are presently considered to be the most efficient algorithms for solving SAT, Glyph does not rely on collision detection and backtracking operations as a means of decreasing computational complexity.
• For more information on IVE (Inference Visual Encryption), IC (Inference Calibration), and the Glyph Algorithm please contact Jamison Stone and/or SPAZKEY LLC directly.

Readers who are Star Wars fans will find some very familiar elements in this listless epic fantasy series
debut. A young man with hidden talents who must flee his home? Check. A villain who can shoot flames
from his hands, and who tries to goad the protagonist into giving in to his anger? Check. Supporting
characters, including a feisty aristocrat and a pirate/ smuggler? Check. Aleksi, an apprentice at the Masters'
Academy, learns from his mentor, Rudra, that he holds the future of his world, Terra, in his hands. Rudra
also warns Aleksi that he is the target of "dark assassins" who seek to either steal his rune or prevent it
from saving Terra. The derivative plot elements and clunky prose ("The sound of his boot heels rang in the
cavern of his heart") overwhelm any interest in the story of Aleksi and his quest to master the power of the
runes while evading death. (Nov.)

BOOKS
Book Review: Rune of the Apprentice by @StoneJamison via @tdmiller820917
There is an challenge for an author of epic fantasy that it is often absent for writers of other genres: To create a new and exciting world solely from the building blocks of one’s imagination. Epic fantasy writers must have faith in the evolving images of their mind’s eye without the luxury of the physical attributes of an environment that is readily available. Such a frightening prospect yet one with creatively freeing rewards.
Jamison Stone proves that he is a skilled world builder and highly accomplished writer, successfully rising to the challenge in his debut epic fantasy novel, Rune of the Apprentice. I admit that I am not as well versed in epic fantasy works. I don’t normally seek them out. But I am a diligent and appreciative reader if a novel offers layered characters navigating through a suspenseful and unpredictable plot. I welcome foreshadowing, but I also desire for books to surprise me. I want to see characters endure and enrich themselves through adversity. Because I feel that there can be no reward when a goal is so easily attained.
With Jamison Stone, you get a writer who clearly understands the epic fantasy audience, yet also must find a way to appeal to readers who rarely explore these kinds of books. I belong to the latter group. The key here is to excel at characterization and plot, as Stone does. In addition, I found that Stone’s writing has an almost poetic allure where there is a beautiful and insightful rhythm to his word choices. Stone’s writing style is quite seductive. Like an artist, Stone uses descriptive words as his brush, meticulously painting each character.
In Rune of the Apprentice, the central protagonist is Aleksi, a young man embarking on a mysterious and dangerous quest. With a bounty on his head and hiding his identity, Aleksi must quiet the raging power of a magical Rune, stay a step ahead of people who want to kill him and assume the Rune’s power, and control the anger swelling inside of him. This proves to be no easy task, especially when he finds himself on a ship composed of pirates.
I was quite impressed by the slew of unique and well-developed characters that Aleksi meets aboard the ship. And while Aleksi, as the novel’s core character is the focal point of the book, driving the narrative through an exciting yet comfortably paced plot, the supporting characters are equally fascinating. Further, there is intense action (courtesy of vivid fight sequences), magical components and natural forces that add texture to the plot. Factions are clearly drawn and loyalties are tested. However, I will caution readers that some of the fight sequences may be disturbing to one’s sensibilities. But this only proves how remarkable Stone is as a writer. Readers will see and feel the intensity of various characters internal and external struggles.
I applaud Jamison Stone for demonstrating his incredible writing ability, psychological insight and descriptive flair in his first novel. Rune of the Apprentice offers readers a memorable experience.
