Kimberly Raye is a prolific romance novelist and serial novelist who lives in the Texas Hill country with her husband and children. In addition to her numerous stand-alone romance novels, Raye is the author of the “Farrel Sisters” series and the “Love at First Bite” series. The latter serial began in 2007 with the publication of Dead Sexy, and continued in 2008 with Drop Dead Gorgeous and A Body to Die For. Raye next added to the series with Cody and The Braddock Boys: Brent in 2009 and 2010, respectively. “Love at First Bite” then concludes with The Braddock Boys: Travis: The Pleasure Principle and The Braddock Boys: Colton. Next, in 2013, Raye began the “Texas Outlaws” series with Texas Outlaws: Jesse, and continued it in 2014 with both Texas Outlaws: Billy and Texas Outlaws: Cole. For her next serial, “Rebel Moonshine,” Raye released Texas Thunder in 2015, followed by Red-Hot Texas Nights and Tempting Texas.
Sometimes Naughty, Sometimes Nice
In her earlier series, the “Farrel Sisters,” Raye dedicates each novel to each eponymous sibling. The first installment, Kiss Me Once, Kiss Me Twice came out in 2004. The second installment, Sometimes Naughty, Sometimes Nice, was also released in 2004. The third addition, Sweet as Sugar, Hot as Spice, followed the next year. Sometimes Naughty, Sometimes Nice is devoted to Xandra Farrel, who owns and operates a sex-toy company called Wild Woman, Inc. Xandra designs and tests her own products, and she is about to take the industry by storm; Xandra has designed a new female condom that guarantees female orgasm. Before going public, Xandra will go to any and all extremes to prove that the condom really works, and she has decided to track down the worst lover she has ever had, seduce him, and try out the condom with him. That means Xandra will have to track down Beau, and once she finds him, she finds that he is not particularly inclined to sleep with her again. Xandra is fresh off the end of a years’-long relationship, and she is not particularly interested in finding love again, but Beau’s rejection awakens a determined obsession within her. Witty banter and snide flirtations ensue, but will the seemingly toxic motivations that reunited Beau and Xandra lead to steamy romance or certain disaster?
Reviews of Sometimes Naughty, Sometimes Nice were largely positive, with a Publishers Weekly critic announcing that “Raye bravely crawls out on a limb with her subject matter, a gamble that may pay off among younger romance fans.” Jill M. Smith, writing on the Web site RT Book Reviews, was also impressed, finding that “Sometimes Naughty, Sometimes Nice certainly lives up to its name.”
Texas Thunder
With the 2015 novel Texas Thunder, Raye opens the “Rebel Moonshine” series. Set in the tiny town of Rebel, Texas, Texas Thunder follows the long-standing family feud between the Sawyers and the Tuckers. Elijah Sawyer and Archibald Tucker are best friends who run a moonshine business together. Unfortunately, they have a falling out, tear their successful moonshine recipe in half, and destroy their once thriving business. The rift between Elijah and Archibald has been carried on by their respective families for generations. The Tuckers have tried to recreate the lost recipe, and Callie Tucker’s grandfather dies while attempting to do so. Callie inherits the family house, but she has to pay all of the unpaid property taxes within thirty days if she plans to keep the house from going to the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). Her only chance of success arrives when an investor offers to pay 10,000 dollars for the lost Tucker-Sawyer moonshine recipe. That means Callie will have to track down her ex, Brett Sawyer. If Callie Tucker and Brett Sawyer can find each half of the lost recipe, they both stand to profit. But can the history between their families be overcome? It already tore them apart once before.
“Fast-paced and smoothly plotted,” a Publishers Weekly critic announced, “Raye’s lighthearted series starter deftly evokes a variety of emotions while building multifaceted characters.” Melanie Bates, writing on RT Book Reviews, offered praise as well, noting that the tension between Callie and Brett “is just as fiery and intense as their chemistry.” Bates went on to note that “Raye gives us a well-crafted, down-home romance.”
Red-Hot Texas Nights
The “Rebel Moonshine” series continues with the 2016 novel Red-Hot Texas Nights. The feud between the Tuckers and the Sawyers once again takes center stage, this time focusing on the romantic and sexual tension between Brandy Tucker and Tyler McCall (a direct descendant of the Sawyer line on the matrilineal side). Brandy hopes to sell her latest iteration of the family moonshine recipe, then take the proceeds to keep her bakery in Rebel from bankruptcy. She has a fling with Tyler, a bull rider who happens to be in town, but when Tyler gets closer to Brandy, she keeps him at arm’s length. Brandy is fine with a fling, but she has a business to run, and getting involved with a Sawyer is never a great idea.
Lauding the novel in Publishers Weekly, a critic asserted that the “sensual love scenes are interspersed with a healthy dose of small-town humor.” Bates, writing once more on RT Book Reviews, announced that Red-Hot Texas Nights is “sure to please readers with its feuding families and passionate, intimate encounters.”
Tempting Texas
Tempting Texas, the third novel in the “Rebel Moonshine” series, follows Sawyer descendant Hunter DeMassi. Hunter is the town sheriff, who took the job after leaving the rodeo. Hunter’s job inadvertently brings him into contact with Jenna Tucker, the town veterinarian. Instant sparks ensue, but Hunter knows better than to date a Tucker. Jenna is not exactly Hunter’s usual type, either, which scares him off further. While Hunter is very much in line with Jenna’s “bad-boy” attractions, she’s promised herself not to repeat the mistakes of the past. As fate conspires to throw Jenna and Hunter together, again and again, both protagonists’ resolves begin to weaken.
The “quirky small-town life adds flavor to this charming, sexy story,” a Publishers Weekly critic announced, while Amy Alessio in Booklist stated that Raye “lifts her characters out of predictable patterns into a lively and enjoyable story.” RT Book Reviews correspondent Bates lauded the novel as well, declaring that Tempting Texas is “a solid, contemporary, humor-filled plot of warm, authentic characters exchanging witty barbs.”

SOMETIMES NAUGHTY, SOMETIMES NICE KIMBERLY RAYE. Warner, $5.99 (352p) ISBN 0446614009
Raye brings sex toys out of the bedroom and into the pages of this featherweight followup to her first Farrel sisters
book, Kiss Me Once, Kiss Me Twice. Xandra Farrel, owner, head designer and product tester of Wild Woman, Inc., a
manufacturer of erotic merchandise, plans to blow her competition out of the water with a new female condom
designed to give every woman what she really wants: the ultimate orgasm. Who better to test it with than Beau
Hollister, the man responsible for the worst fiveminute sexual experience in her life? Getting Beau into bed isn't as
easy as she thinks, especially since he still blames her for the loss of his college scholarship years earlier. Xandra, who
is obsessed with her three gray hairs down there, shedding 10 pounds and being dumped by her exboyfriend after eight
years (which doesn't really count since she didn't love him anyway), now becomes obsessed with seducing Beau.
Humor, sex and seduction is the soup du jour here, but a less than tasteful reference to a sex act involving a cat and
peanut butter may put off some readers. While the banter between characters can be mundane and Xandra's whininess
will try readers' patience, Raye bravely crawls out on a limb with her subject matter, a gamble that may pay off among
younger romance fans. Agent, Natasha Kern. (Oct.)

Raye, a veteran author of vampire and Nascar romances, opens her new Rebel Moonshine contemporary series with
love in the heart of presentday Texas. Elijah Sawyer and Archibald Tucker of tiny Rebel, Tex., were once the best of
friends and business partners in their thriving moonshine business. But the men had an argument that resulted in them
tearing the moonshine recipe in half. Generations later, their descendants are sworn enemies. After Callie Tucker's
grandfather dies while trying to perfect his version of the recipe, Callie inherits his home, but she only has 30 days to
pay the property taxes and avoid foreclosure. She joins forces with her equally broke exboyfriend, sexy Brett Sawyer,
to hunt for Brett's half of the original recipe for an investor who is willing to pay $10,000. Their continued search
forces them into close proximity, and when the sexual tension culminates in a sizzling encounter, they must decide
whether they can look past their families' fraught historyand their own stormy pastto really connect with each other.
Fast paced and smoothly plotted, Raye's lighthearted series starter deftly evokes a variety of emotions while building
multifaceted characters. (Sept.)

Members of feuding families bury the hatchet in Raye's enjoyable second Rebel Moonshine contemporary (after Texas
Thunder). The Tucker and Sawyer families, once partners in the manufacture of moonshine, have been enemies for
years. Brandy Tucker is working hard to make a go of her bakery in the small town of Rebel, Tex., and needs to sell her
latest moonshine recipe to a distiller in order to raise the funds to keep her business afloat. She definitely doesn't need
the distraction of Tyler McCall, a Sawyer descendant and professional bull rider whom she hooks up with when he is in
town. Though Brandy is reluctant to let Tyler get to know her on a deep emotional level, assuming that the traveling
rodeo rider will never settle down, she starts spending time with him and realizes that she actually likes him. Sensual
love scenes are interspersed with a healthy dose of smalltown humor in this touching romance. Agent: Natasha Kern,

FROM CUPID, WITH LOVE ... One might assume the romance market would soon be overflowing with Valentine's
Day offerings; however, in recent years, stories focusing specifically on the traditional holiday for lovers have been in
relatively short supply. Whether this is a longterm trend or merely another of the genre's many cycles, only time will
tell. Nevertheless, there are a few titles that are right on target for the holiday, several of which are reviewed below.
Interestingly, there must have been something unusual in Cupid's darts this year because three of these are tenyear
reunion stories!
Lindsay, Yvonne. Tycoon's Valentine Vendetta. Silhouette Desire. Feb. 2008. c.192p. ISBN 9780373768547. pap.
$4.75. CONTEMPORARY
Back home in New Zealand to regroup when her highfashion modeling career slides into oblivion, Lily Fontaine is
drawn once again to successful Jack Dolan, her teenage love, unaware not only that she doesn't know the entire truth
about their decadeold breakup but that Jack is out for revenge, and she and her father are the targets. Lies, secrets,
miscommunication, parental interference, and the ruthless use of power are woven into the fabric of this sexy,
compelling tale of passion, vengeance, and, ultimately, healing love. Note: American readers will notice a few
Britishisms but should figure them out. Lindsay (Rossellini's Revenge Affair) hails from Down Under.

Giving a slight Valentine's Day twist to the classic secretbaby plot, Rimmer (A Bravo Christmas Reunion) adds
another familycentered sizzler to her popular "Bravo" series as single mom Kelly Bravo is reunited with her nowwealthy
high school sweetheart, and this pair of emotionally scarred people struggle to forgive the past and, possibly,

Wylie gives the reunion plot a sweet spin when she takes a pair of estranged youthful lovers, has them inherit a shared
estate, throws in a secret baby, and lets the funand the reconciliationbegin. Great sexual tension (no explicit sex in
this line), plenty of inner angst, serious medical issues, and a bright, perceptive child you would be proud to call your
own combine with a pair of highly resistive meanttobetogether protagonists in a romance that is intense and
memorable. Wylie (The Firefighter's Chosen Bride) lives in Ireland.
SANS CUPID'S DARTS
Historical or contemporary, sexy or gentle, the books below may not be pierced by Cupid's arrows, but they overflow
with romanceand often magic.
* Brockway, Connie. Skinny Dipping. Onyx: Penguin Group (USA). Jan. 2008. c.432p. ISBN 9780451412447. pap.
$7.99. CONTEMPORARY
Noted primarily for her awardwinning historicals, Brockway (Hot Dish) continues her successful foray into the
contemporary market with this funny and quirky yet poignantly touching story that takes an obligationaverse, secondsighted
heroine with an unstructured, chaotic life, pairs her with an analytical, orderly hero with obsessivecompulsive
tendencies, and adds a cast of delightfully offbeat characters. From the cute meet (the heroine is naked, dripping with
weeds, muck, and twigs after skinnydipping; our hero is impeccably dressed) to the satisfying conclusion, this
heartwarming tale sparkles with humor and love as an extended family finally discovers the real importance of their
shared lakeside vacation home. An exquisitely rendered setting, an abundance of complex family dynamics, a story that
explores what it means to belong, and a beautifully developed romantic relationship guarantee the appeal of this wellcrafted
tale for both romance and women's fiction fans alike. Brockway, who lives in Edina, MN, has penned another
winner.
Carroll, Christine. The Senator's Daughter. Medallion. Jan. 2008. c.464p. ISBN 9781933836300. pap. $7.95.
CONTEMPORARY
Beautiful, wealthy, and flamboyant Sylvia Chatsworth has been the target of jealous women, persistent paparazzi, and
her politician parent's neglect for years. When a series of events send her into hiding in a quaint bedandbreakfast in
Napa Valley, CA, and her U.S. senator father hires Assistant DA Lyle Thomas, a man with whom she shared an
impulsive, muchphotographed kiss, to track her down, the pair suddenly find themselves dealing with a lot more than
romance. Organized crime, winecountry real estate deals, earthquakes, and blackmail ratchet up the tension in this
actionpacked, sexy romance that is an intriguing read, despite occasional immature reactions by the protagonists.
Carroll has nailed the regional settings and local attractions (e.g., the mud baths). Carroll (Children of Destiny) also
writes as Linda Jacobs and divides her time between Virginia's Shenandoah Valley and the West.
Guhrke, Laura Lee. The Wicked Ways of a Duke. Avon. Jan. 2008. c.384p. ISBN 9780061143618. pap. $6.99.
HISTORICAL
Vaulted into the world of the socially elite when she inherits a fortune from her American millionaire father, seamstress
Prudence Bosworth becomes fair game for fortune hunters. Still, when she falls for the Duke of St. Cyres, she thinks
her life is completeuntil she learns that the landrich but cashpoor duke has deceived her and thinks he is only after
her wealth. This sparkling, steamy romp is a delightful, , compelling read, the second in the author's Victorian girl

finds love and miraculous healing in the arms of the new owner of his former home in Child's heartfelt Christmas
Cravings. A vampire from fourthcentury Rome is annoyed by a bellringing "Santa" and then captivated by the sexy
lawyer she turns out to be in Pinieiro's slightly edgy, bondagetinged Fate Calls. Spicy, violent, and passionate, these
stories resolve the humanvampire conflict in different ways. While the tales may not be everyone's holiday mug of

TEXAS THUNDER
Author(s): Kimberly Raye
Love and moonshine blend well in Raye’s latest novel set in Texas, with her modern, amusing storytelling and strong, lively characters. Callie’s sassiness is the perfect complement to Brett’s toughness, and their tension is just as fiery and intense as their chemistry, which will appeal to readers. Raye gives us a well-crafted, down-home romance.
Callie Tucker has set her mind to finding the remaining ingredients of Texas Thunder, her family’s famous moonshine, knowing the money she makes from selling the rights could help her family. She goes to Brett Sawyer for assistance, the guy who abandoned her on prom night more than 10 years ago. He is also the enemy, the feud between their families lasting for over a century. Though she wants to hate Brett, Callie finds it difficult to ignore their attraction. And Brett, who regrets how he treated Callie long ago, hopes for another chance. (ST. Raye’s latest is a genuine, down-to-earth Southern romance. A solid, contemporary, humor-filled plot of warm, authentic characters exchanging witty barbs is the highlight of this story. Jenna and Hunter’s romantic connection is intensely electric. Jenna’s grit matches Hunter’s toughness in equal measure and will appeal to readers. Raye adds in just enough tension to keep readers turning the pages.
Clearing out her grandfather’s farmhouse, Jenna Tucker’s goal is to get away from her family’s legacy, which means getting out of her family’s moonshine business. The last thing she needs to distract her from her goal is Sheriff Hunter DeMassi — and distract her he does with a searing kiss. It doesn’t help that Hunter’s a descendent of the Sawyers, the family Jenna’s family has been feuding with for generations. Hunter is the enemy and Jenna needs to avoid him. Yet, as the attraction between them deepens, Jenna realizes she can’t avoid Hunter because she needs him to help her get to the truth behind a newly discovered family secret that affects both of their families. Veterinarian Jenna Tucker always had a bit of a wild reputation, going from one man to another, but she wants to clean up her act, especially after being passed up for a promotion at work. After her sister finds their grandfather’s moonshine recipe and sells it to a local distillery, Jenna takes her part of the proceeds to renovate the family spread, hoping to follow her true passion of breeding horses. The house was left to Jenna and her two older sisters, but now that they are married, they have left the place to Jenna. In the process of preparing the house to be torn down and rebuilt, she stumbles across an old trunk in the attic, which contains letters that shed some light on the hundred-year-old feud between the Sawyers and the Tuckers, still going strong today. But the last thing she wants is to get involved in the feud, especially since her two sisters have recently wed Sawyers.
Hunter DeMassi misses his wild days in the rodeo, but with the death of his brother, he sets out to straighten up his act and run for sheriff. Still, he knows that in his parents’ eyes he will never measure up to his brother. Now, about to run for his third term, he fixates on discovering who is running the moonshine ring in town. He is also curious about the death of Jenna’s grandfather, James Harlin Tucker, which is more than suspicious. Hunter tries to hide his bad boy side and finding a good girl will help, but, unfortunately, no one stirs his blood like Jenna.
Sizzling hot, TEMPTING TEXAS, the third book in author Kimberly Raye’s REBEL MOONSHINE series, is a witty, sensual contemporary romance that will take your breath away. Although Hunter’s last name is DeMassi, he is a Sawyer through and through, but this doesn’t keep him away from the woman of his dreams, Jenna. Left to her own devices now that her sisters are married, Jenna is determined to overcome the town’s opinion of the Tuckers by staying away from men and concentrating on her career. She decides that tearing down the Tucker family home and building anew is a start, but Jenna has a sentimental streak that makes it hard to let go. Her sizzling hot connection to Hunter makes it difficult to stay away from him. The chemistry between this couple is explosive and I enjoyed watching them grow closer and attempting to overcome their pasts.
Sexual tension, snappy banter, sizzling hot scenes, mystery, secrets, hidden agendas, two feuding families, betrayals, moonshine, humor, romance and true love intertwine, giving readers a deliciously romantic story that they will hate to see end. This book can be read as a standalone, but after reading it, I am sure you will crave TEXAS THUNDER and RED-HOT TEXAS NIGHTS. I hope this is not the last book in this delicious series. If you are looking for a novel with plenty of sass, sizzle and humor, look no further than TEMPTING TEXAS!
